Hawaiian, Glaskin is not only a tribal oceanic artist but also a storyteller and environmentalist.

At one time Glaskin was called the "Australian Picaso" due to the style of his work.

Glaskin believes that water is the common bond between modern and ancient people.

This intenserelationship with water is evident with Derek's other passion, surfing.
