Lorna Naparrula Fencer
Lorna Napurrula Fencer is a
senior senior artist from the central Northern Territory and speaks Warlpiri.
Lorna was born c 1924s in
Yartulu Yartulu, near Chilla Well, Yumurrpa country which is situated south of
the Tanami Desert, Northern Territory.
She began painting on canvas in
1986 - before that she had painted on traditional digging sticks and women's
coolamons.
Lorna’s work is extravagant,
abstract and eye catching. Her unique style is and attracting point to many
collectors. She does not paint in a classical dot painting style but a thick,
colourful and vibrant design..
Today Lorna lives at Lajamanu and occasionally in Katherine.
Her work is represented in
public galleries in Australia and in private galleries both in Australia and
overseas. Her made her first solo exhibition in 1997 and since then has taken
part in at least one solo exhibition annually, as well as in group exhibitions.
