Kamahi was born in Katherine in the Northern territory in 1972. He is a member of the Gurindji tribe and his Aboriginal skin name is Jungala. Kamahi has been sketching and painting since a young boy. However he did not begin painting art on canvas until his 20's as he pursued his love of the performing arts. He has moved around Australia since a teenager.

Kamahi studied dance for several years in Sydney in the mid 1990's with the Balaringi dance group. He also began writing plays during this time and has had several performed in Australia and London, including 'The Hitchhiker'.

Kamahi studied and later taught at the Annual writers guild during the late 90's. Pursuing his acting career further Kamahi played several parts in plays, in small movies and on television, most notably in Lost during 2002 & 2003.

Today Kamahi lives in Melbourne and is enjoying a return to his painting resurrecting several old styles he began painting in 2000.  Kamahi is keen to begin acting and writing again full time in 2006 after his break.
